Tatzria and Metzora

What if Langston Hughes were Jewish and wrote a poem every week based on the parshah? This week I attempted to answer that question with one of the most redundant of biblical portions.

Shabbat Shalom!
--
Unclean

Unclean, unclean, unclean!

Spots-
skin,
Spots-
white,
Spots-
swelled,
dim,
blight.

Spots-
hair,
Spots-
round,
Spotted,
red
oozing
mounds.

Unclean, Unclean, Unclean, Clean.

Spotted-
garments,
Spotted-
hours,
Spotted
dancing
April
flowers.

Spotted-
starlight,
Spotted-
birth,
Spotted
legends
preaching
mirth.

Cleaning unclean--
uncleaning the clean.

Spotting-
seraphs
Spotting-
gods
Spotted
memories
shred
ether
to stars.
